Simon Halfmeyer

Simon Halfmeyer is a Lecturer and Teacher for Special Tasks at the Alanus University of Arts and Social Sciences, based in Alfter near Bonn. He holds roles in the Faculty of Visual Arts, specifically in the Department of Painting. Born in Hamburg (1974), he studied Fine Arts at the Muthesius Hochschule Kiel (1999–2001) and the HBK Braunschweig (2001–2005), later becoming a master student under Raimund Kummer (2004–2005). He has been active in artist collectives like the Prima Kunst e.V. (2000–2003) and Cluster-Berlin (2006–2008).

His research interests center on contemporary painting, installation art, and public art projects. Notable works include Wall Drawings (2017) and solo exhibitions at Galerie Arte Giani (Frankfurt) and international venues. He has received awards such as the Joseph and Anna Fassbender Prize (2018) and grants from Kunststiftung NRW and Stiftung Kunstfonds. His art often explores spatial intervention and materiality, with projects in galleries, hospitals, and private commissions.

Halfmeyer has taught at multiple institutions, including the University of Giessen (Free Drawing professorship), Bielefeld University (Art Education), and Dortmund University of Applied Sciences. His exhibitions span solo and group shows in Germany, China, and Austria, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to contemporary art.
