Shawn Galvin

Shawn Galvin is an Adjunct Professor at Louisiana State University's School of Music, serving as Artist-in-Residence. He has performed globally as a percussionist and timpanist with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra (1996–present), United States Navy Band (2001–2008), and as founder of New Music Raleigh. His academic background includes a Master of Science in Arts Administration from Drexel University and a Bachelor of Music in Performance from Duquesne University.

Research & Artistic Contributions: Galvin focuses on contemporary classical music, small-market orchestra engagement, and interdisciplinary collaborations. He has released albums featuring works by D.J. Sparr and Brett William Dietz, and his research explores community-building through modern compositions.

Collaborations & Recognition: Awardee of the 2018 Grammy for Best Orchestral Performance, he has conducted productions for Arizona Opera and Duke Performances, and presented clinics at major music conventions like PASIC and Midwest Band Clinic. He is an artist/educational clinician for Yamaha Percussion and Innovative Percussion.
