Shasha Wang

Dr. Shasha Wang is a Lecturer in Chinese Studies at Bangor University's School of Language, Culture and the Arts. With 25 years of teaching experience in higher education institutions across China and UK, she specializes in Chinese language instruction, media representation of China, cross-cultural communication, and translation studies.

Her research focuses on Western representations of China, mutual Sino-Western perceptions, and critical discourse analysis of media and political narratives. She has supervised multiple PhD candidates in Chinese and Translation Studies, including work on topics like Yan Lianke translations and David Hawkes' The Story of the Stone.

Recent activities include keynote speaking at the Cultural Translation and Foreign Translation Research Centre launch in China, participation in QAA's Area Studies Benchmark Statement development, and extensive seminar presentations on China-related topics at institutions like SOAS and University of Glasgow. Awards include Bangor University's Teaching Fellowship of the Year and Senior Fellowship of HEA.
