Professor Seumas Miller is a Full Professor at 4TU.Ethics and a Distinguished Research Fellow at the Oxford Uehiro Centre for Practical Ethics. He holds joint positions as Professor of Philosophy at Charles Sturt University and the Australian National University. Formerly, he served as Head of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Charles Sturt University (1994–1999) and as Foundation Director of the Centre for Applied Philosophy and Public Ethics (CAPPE) in Australia (2000–2007).
Miller specializes in corruption, terrorism, police ethics, and the ethical implications of emerging technologies, particularly in war, public security, and liberal democracy. His notable publications include Social Action: A Teleological Account (2001), Ethical Issues in Policing (2006), and Terrorism and Counter-Terrorism: Ethics and Liberal Democracy (2008).
At 4TU.Ethics, he contributes to projects addressing complex ethical questions arising from technologies such as neuro-enhancement. His career spans research leadership, education, and knowledge exchange across institutions in the UK, Australia, and the Netherlands.
