Serguei Netessine

Serguei Netessine is the Senior Vice Dean for Innovation and Global Initiatives and Dhirubhai Ambani Professor of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. He holds a BS/MS in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering from Moscow Institute of Electronic Technology and MS/PhD degrees in Operations Management from the University of Rochester. His research focuses on business model innovation, operational excellence, and sustainability, collaborating with Fortune 500 firms and governments globally.

He has authored over 50 peer-reviewed articles in journals like Management Science and Operations Research, and his book The Risk-Driven Business Model won the 2015 Axiom Business Book Award. Netessine teaches executive education programs and Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), including a Microsoft program with 10,000+ participants. He serves on startup advisory boards, is an active angel investor, and advises organizations like the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Key research areas include renewable energy business models, decentralized platforms, and supply chain resilience. His work bridges academia and industry, addressing challenges in innovation ecosystems, global supply chains, and responsible business practices.
