Scott Pingel

Scott Pingel is a Professor of Double Bass at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music (SFCM), where he teaches applied lessons and Double Bass class. He has served as Principal Bassist with the San Francisco Symphony since 2004 and previously held the same role with the Charleston Symphony Orchestra.

Pingel’s expertise spans Double Bass Performance, Chamber Music, and Music Education. He emphasizes technical precision and artistic beauty, drawing from his extensive experience in orchestral and solo performance. His personal interests include psychology, philosophy, kinesiology, visual arts, and martial arts.

Notable achievements include mentoring award-winning students like Tian Yang Liu, who became Assistant Principal Bass at the Houston Ballet and now teaches at Beijing Central Conservatory. His own performance accolades highlight his Grand Prize win in the Classical Solo Division of the International Society of Bassists Competition.
