Scott L. Baugh

Scott L. Baugh is a Professor in the Department of English at Texas Tech University specializing in film and media studies with emphases in multicultural American aesthetics, Latin/x cinema, and Latin American cultural studies. His scholarly work bridges critical theory, visual culture, and cinematic analysis with a focus on Chicana/o and Latin American perspectives.

His research interests center on multicultural American aesthetics, Latin/x cinema, Chicana/o visual culture, and experimental film. Baugh examines how cinematic narratives construct cultural identity, particularly through border studies, postcolonial frameworks, and digital media interventions. His work frequently engages with Tarantino cinema, New Latin American Cinema manifestos, and avant-garde media practices that challenge dominant cultural narratives.

Notable scholarly awards include the National Humanities Center Summer Resident Fellowship (2018), SCMLA Faculty Research Award (2015-2016), and the American Historical Association Film & History League's Scholarly Editing Award (2004).
