Dr Scott Dawson is a Lecturer in Biomedical Sciences at York St John University's School of Science, Technology and Health. With a PhD in Cancer Research from the University of Huddersfield, his expertise spans biomarker development for cancer diagnostics and clinical hematology. He holds a BSc (Hons) in Applied Biomedical Science and an MSc in Cancer Pharmacology, complemented by NHS haematology laboratory experience. His teaching focuses on Haematology, Immunology, and Transfusion Science modules, alongside supervising research projects on cancer therapeutic efficacy. Dawson's research includes bladder cancer urinary biomarkers and circulating tumour cell detection, collaborating with the University of Huddersfield. He is also investigating pedagogical approaches to enhance student workplace readiness in haematology through a project with NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT). A member of the British Society of Haematology and European Haematology Association, he is pursuing Fellowship of Advance HE.
