Sarah Griffith Winterberg serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of English at the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith, specializing in Rhetoric and Writing and Media Communication. She teaches composition, rhetoric, workplace writing, and editing while actively promoting mindfulness and sustainable living practices through her role as faculty advisor for the Garden Club of UAFS.
As a first-generation college graduate and the first person from Johnson Bayou, Louisiana to earn a Ph.D., her background deeply informs her academic work. Her doctoral research focused on writing challenges for first-generation and at-risk students, as evidenced by her dissertation "Composition Instructors’ Interactions with Classroom Discourse Communities: A Qualitative Study."
