Janine Chitty

Dr. Janine Chitty is a Professor at the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith (UAFS), specializing in English Rhetoric, Writing, and Media Communication. She holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, with 15 years of secondary education experience. Her teaching portfolio includes undergraduate courses in composition, literature, research methods, and education, as well as graduate courses in the UAFS Master of Education program, such as Action Research in Education and Young Adult Multicultural Literature.

Her research focuses on K-12 literacy, multiliteracies, educational technology integration, and curriculum design. She is actively engaged in publishing and presenting on these topics. Dr. Chitty is a recipient of the 2022 Lucille Speakman Master Teacher Award for teaching excellence and was recognized as the CAS Faculty Advisor in 2023. She advises students in both undergraduate and graduate Capstone projects and contributes to program development in teacher licensure and educational methodology.
