Sarah Greenham

Dr Sarah Greenham is an Impact Fellow in the Urban Design and Green Infrastructure strand of the West Midlands Air Quality Improvement Programme (WM-Air), based at the University of Birmingham's School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences. Her research focuses on adapting urban infrastructure to climate change impacts, emphasizing knowledge exchange with stakeholders and policy implementation. She holds a PhD in Civil Engineering (2023), MSc in Climate Change and Sustainability (2018), and BSc in Urban Planning (2011).

Her interdisciplinary work spans climate risk mapping, transport network resilience, and heat vulnerability assessments. Notable contributions include guidance documents for the West Midlands transport network and policy frameworks for low-income countries. She has collaborated with TfL, Network Rail, and international bodies like the Asian Development Bank. Her visiting research includes roles at Japan Railway and the University of Tokyo, funded by JSPS and RISEN programs.

Recent publications highlight climate adaptation pathways, urban heat vulnerability, and infrastructure resilience. Her work bridges academia and policy, aiming to translate scientific insights into actionable strategies for equitable climate responses.
