Dr. Emma Ferranti is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Birmingham. Her research focuses on infrastructure resilience, climate adaptation, and green infrastructure. She leads an EPSRC Fellowship exploring Nature-Based Solutions for extreme weather resilience and contributes to projects on transport systems and urban air quality.
Education: BSc (Hons) Geography/Geology (University of Leeds, 2001), MSc Environmental Hazards (Lancaster University, 2006), PhD Geography (Lancaster University, 2011). She is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA) and has held prior NERC Knowledge Exchange Fellowships.
Key roles include co-facilitating the Trees and Design Action Group (TDAG), leading the Infrastructure Theme at COP26's Resilience Hub, and advising government bodies like Defra and the Forestry Commission.
