Professor Sarah Childs is Professor of Politics & Gender at Royal Holloway, University of London, specializing in women's representation and institutional change. Her work develops feminist democratic representation theory and examines the gendered nature of political institutions.
Professor Childs has significantly impacted UK parliamentary reform through her Good Parliament Report (2016), which proposed measures to make the House of Commons more diversity-sensitive. Eighteen recommendations have been implemented, including proxy voting for MPs on parental leave. She continues to advise parliamentary bodies on gender-sensitive governance reforms.
