About
Sara Giannini is a Studio Practice Tutor at the Royal Academy of Art (KABK) in The Hague, mentoring students across Bachelor Fine Arts and Master Artistic Research programmes. Concurrently, she serves as Programme Curator at If I Can't Dance, I Don't Want To Be Part Of Your Revolution in Amsterdam since 2020, co-developing experimental art commissions in performativity.
Her research critically examines language-performativity intersections through institutional critique lenses, informed by theatre studies and semiotics. Projects consistently engage with absent narratives, the occult, and erased histories—challenging conventional art production and display structures. This manifests in interdisciplinary explorations of marginalized perspectives within global art contexts.
As an educator, Giannini integrates curatorial practice into studio mentorship at KABK, building on prior teaching roles at Sandberg Instituut and Dutch Art Institute. Her supervision emphasizes critical theory application within artistic development, fostering student engagement with institutional frameworks and alternative narrative construction.
