Sandor Demeter

Sandor Demeter is an Associate Professor in the Department of Community Health Sciences at the Max Rady College of Medicine, University of Manitoba. He holds cross-appointments in the Department of Radiology and serves as a staff nuclear medicine physician with Shared Health. His research focuses on public health aspects of ionizing radiation, health technology assessment, health economics, and health policy.

• Education: BSc (1986), MD (1989 - University of Saskatchewan); MHSc (1993 - University of Toronto); MHP (2016 - Illinois Institute of Technology); Dalla Lana Fellowship in Global Journalism (2023).
• Clinical Training: Family Medicine (1989-1990), Anatomic Pathology (1990-1991), and Nuclear Medicine fellowships.

He has served on the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission, International Commission on Radiological Protection (Protection in Medicine Committee), and Canadian Agency for Drugs and Technologies in Health’s Health Technology Expert Review Panel. His career spans clinical nuclear medicine and public health administration.

Current roles include academic leadership in nuclear medicine and public health, with active involvement in policy-making and technology evaluation.
