Said Audi

Said Audi is a Professor and Director of Graduate Studies at the Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering (Marquette University & MCW) and holds a secondary appointment in the MCW Department of Medicine. He co-directs the Computational Lung Physiology Laboratory (CLPL) and has been actively involved in graduate and undergraduate education since 1993.

• Education: PhD, MS, and BS in Biomedical Engineering from Marquette University (1993, 1990, 1988)
• Teaching: Courses in computer applications for biomedical data analysis, physiologic modeling, clinical need finding, and cellular systems simulation

His research focuses on acute lung injury, lung transplantation, and pulmonary hemodynamics, combining computational modeling with functional imaging (SPECT, optical) to investigate mitochondrial bioenergetics and endothelial metabolism. Recent publications emphasize hyperoxia-induced injury mechanisms, ischemia-reperfusion injury quantification, and predictive biomarker development.

Grant-funded projects include NIH-supported work on NOX4's role in ARDS, radiation biodosimetry, and antioxidant status assays for organ transplantation. He has mentored students through CLPL and collaborated with industry partners on medical device development.
