Dr. Steven Romero is Assistant Professor of Physiology & Anatomy at UNT Health Science Center's College of Biomedical and Translational Sciences, with membership in the Institute for Healthy Aging. Holding a Ph.D. in Human Physiology from the University of Oregon, his research examines vascular responses to physiological stressors in health and disease.
Research Themes: 1) Vascular adjustments to exercise/environmental stress; 2) Disease-related vascular maladaptations in hypertension, aging, and peripheral arterial disease. Current projects investigate heat therapy for hypertension management, endothelial protection against ischemia-reperfusion injury, and exercise rehabilitation for burn survivors.
