Dr. Chen’s research explores mitochondrial dysfunction, oxidative post-translational modifications, and redox signaling in cardiovascular diseases. His work employs electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) and mass spectrometry to study protein modifications in post-ischemic hearts.
Recent publications highlight his focus on mitochondrial complexes (I, II, III), diabetic vascular dysfunction, metabolic syndrome, and oxidative stress in cardiovascular pathologies. Key themes include mitochondrial electron transport chain, protein thiyl radicals, and antioxidant interventions.
He teaches medical physiology courses, including Microcirculation, Cellular Bioenergetics, and Renal Transport Physiology, integrating mitochondrial biology into clinical contexts.
