Saar Shemesh

Saar Shemesh is an Adjunct Instructor at Virginia Commonwealth University's School of the Arts, teaching in both the Art Foundation and Graphic Design programs.

Education:

• MFA in Sculpture and Extended Media, Virginia Commonwealth University
• BFA, Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art

Artistic Practice: Working primarily in sculpture and installation, Shemesh explores abstract forms through innovative moldmaking and casting techniques. Their work investigates material transformation and sensory experience, often bending traditional processes to create new forms.

Exhibition & Residencies: Has participated in residencies at Visual Arts Center of Richmond, RAIR Philly, Franconia Sculpture Park, and SOMA Mexico City. Recent exhibitions include Current Space (Baltimore), Vox Populi (Philadelphia), Artlot (Brooklyn), and Virginia MoCA (Virginia Beach).
