Lily Cox-Richard

Lily Cox-Richard is an Associate Professor in Sculpture + Extended Media at Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts. Her practice recontextualizes familiar forms and materials through sculpture, engaging with historical narratives and material transformations.

Notable exhibitions include solo shows at Artpace (San Antonio), Yvonne (Guatemala City), Hirschl & Adler Modern (New York), and the Hudson River Museum. Her work investigates cultural memory, labor histories, and ecological relationships through industrial and natural materials.

Recognition includes an Artadia grant, Smithsonian Artist Research Fellowship, and residencies at MacDowell Colony, RAIR Philadelphia, and Millay Colony. She mentors students in developing conceptual frameworks for material-based practices.
