Saadye Ali

Saadye Ali is a Senior Lecturer in Adult Nursing at the University of Hertfordshire, affiliated with the School of Health and Social Work and the Department of Nursing, Health and Wellbeing. She specializes in violence against women and girls, particularly focusing on honor-based violence, forced marriage, and intersectional approaches to gender and ethnicity. Her work integrates qualitative research and participatory methods with young people, notably in FGM prevention through community engagement.

• Collaborative projects include research on Black students’ mental health with universities of Durham, Nottingham, and East London.
• Current projects: 'Amplifying The Mental Health Of Black University Students' (ESRC-funded, 2025-2028) and 'MadCrit: Exploring the racialised and sanist contentions in mental health provision.'

Her research emphasizes participatory approaches, with key outputs including studies on FGM prevention among second-generation UK youth and medicine adherence in paediatric epilepsy. She has contributed to policy-relevant reports and peer-reviewed journals, advocating for intersectional health equity frameworks.
