Fr. Ryan Ruiz serves as Vice-Rector, Director of Formation, Director of Liturgy, and Associate Professor of Liturgy and Sacraments at Mount St. Mary’s Seminary & School of Theology (The Athenaeum of Ohio) in Cincinnati. He previously served as Dean of the School of Theology from 2019 to 2024. Ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati in 2008, he holds a doctorate in Sacred Liturgy from the Pontifical Liturgical Institute of Sant’Anselmo (Rome, 2016).
His research focuses on liturgical studies and sacramental theology, with expertise in traditional Latin Mass practices and divine worship. He advises the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Committee on Divine Worship and serves as archepiscopal delegate for traditional Latin Mass matters and censor librorum for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. Fr. Ruiz is a Board member of the Society for Catholic Liturgy and has lectured at institutions like the Liturgical Institute (Chicago) and Catholic University of America (Washington, D.C.).
He actively contributes to liturgical committees and ministerial needs in the local Church, emphasizing sacramental theology and liturgical reform in contemporary practice.
