Ryan D. Shirey

Ryan D. Shirey is a Teaching Professor and Director of the WFU Writing Center in the Department of English at Wake Forest University. He holds a PhD from Washington University in St. Louis and an AM from the same institution.

His research explores writing pedagogy, ethics in rhetoric, critical literacy, and Scottish literature. Courses taught include Writing Center Pedagogy, Academic Research, and Literature of Scotland/Ireland.

Publications focus on literary renewal, vernacular poetry, and nationalism. Recent work analyzes intersections of cultural identity and linguistic preservation in transatlantic contexts.
