Roman Sidortsov

Dr. Roman Sidortsov is a Visiting Professor at the Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU) within the University of Sussex Business School and an Associate Professor of Energy Policy at Michigan Technological University. He holds an interdisciplinary Ph.D. in Polar Studies/Geography from the University of Cambridge, a Juris Doctor from Vermont Law School, and law degrees from Irkutsk State University.

His research focuses on international and comparative energy policy and law, with expertise in sustainable energy redevelopment, energy security, risk governance, and Arctic energy development. Key areas include revitalizing post-industrial communities through renewable energy, energy justice, and legal frameworks for offshore resources.

Dr. Sidortsov has led projects funded by the EU Commission, U.S. National Science Foundation, and private entities. He serves as an Associate Editor of Energy Research and Social Science. Notable publications address energy equity in sub-Saharan Africa, renewable energy transitions in U.S. municipalities, and cybersecurity challenges in Arctic energy infrastructure.
