Rodney Booth

Rodney Booth is a full-time Lecturer of Jazz Trumpet at the University of North Texas, specializing in Jazz Studies. He holds a degree from the same institution under Don 'Jake' Jacoby and was a member of the North Texas State One O’Clock Lab Band. His career spans over 30 years as a professional musician, performing with renowned artists such as Ella Fitzgerald, Ray Charles, and Natalie Cole.

His research interests focus on jazz performance, improvisation pedagogy, and the intersection of commercial music with artistic expression. He has recorded for major commercial brands and produced albums like Look Over There and Ten and One, showcasing his big band and quartet work.

Rodney directs ensembles such as the UNT Jazz Repertory Ensemble and leads his own big band and dance band, performing at corporate events and weddings. His teaching portfolio includes improvisation, ear training, and jazz trumpet instruction.
