Kelly Rossum is a Professor of Music in the Department of Performing Arts - Music at Christopher Newport University (CNU), holding the Jean E. Falk Professorship. He specializes in trumpet performance, jazz studies, composition, and improvisation. Rossum is an internationally recognized artist with performances spanning diverse genres and locations, including lead trumpet at New York’s Birdland, baroque trumpet in Germany, and improvised free jazz in Thailand.

He composes film and dance scores and collaborates with ensembles like the Fifth Bridge electro-acoustic trumpet quintet.
