Josh D. Reed

Josh D. Reed, DMA, is an Assistant Professor of Jazz Trumpet at the University of Nevada, Reno's School of Music. He is a noted performer and music educator with affiliations at institutions including the University of Missouri and Santa Clara University. His roles include leading his own ensembles (trio, quartet, quintet) and directing jazz programs.

• Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) in Jazz Studies, University of Colorado Boulder (2016)
• Master of Music in Jazz and Contemporary Media, Eastman School of Music (2009)
• Bachelor of Music in Music Industry, James Madison University (2007)

Research & Performance Interests: Specializing in jazz trumpet performance, pedagogy, and improvisation. Active collaborations with renowned artists such as Dave Douglas, Anat Cohen, and Art Lande. Recent recordings include leading projects like Leaping Forward and featured contributions to albums by Art Deco and The Tim Wendel Septet.

Teaching & Leadership: Extensive experience teaching private lessons, ensembles, and courses across multiple institutions. Directed jazz programs at the University of Missouri and Santa Clara University before joining UNR in 2019.

Labs/Teams: Leads his own ensembles and actively participates in collaborative projects within the jazz community.
