Rochelle Rowley

Rochelle Rowley serves as Associate Professor in Sociology and Criminology within Emporia State University's School of Humanities and Social Sciences, concurrently holding the Graduate Director position for the Master of Applied Sociology program. She actively participates in university committees and serves as co-advisor for the PRIDE student organization.

Her educational credentials include a Master of Arts in Sociology (2007) and Ph.D. in Psychology with community emphasis (2012), both earned at Wichita State University.

Research centers on social justice messaging in popular music (2001-2015) and identity invalidation impacts from anti-LGBTQ+ policies, extending to personal/interpersonal/social dimensions. Past investigations covered cyberbullying, teen dating violence, youth relationships, and civic engagement, reflecting interdisciplinary approaches bridging sociology, criminology, and community psychology.

Professionally, she acts as Kansas State Director for the Midwest Sociological Society. Community leadership includes Board Vice Presidency at SOS, Inc.
