Rishad Rayyaan

Dr. Rishad Rayyaan is a Research Fellow in Sustainable Textiles at the School of Design, University of Leeds. He holds a PhD in Textile Composites and MSc in Textile Technology from The University of Manchester, alongside a BSc in Textile Technology from Bangladesh University of Textiles (BUTEX).

• Chartered member of The Textile Institute (UK)
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and Newly Qualified Teacher (NQT) certification
• PGCE in Mathematics from Kingston University London

His research focuses on natural fibre composites, sustainable textile manufacturing, and textile recyclability through thermo-mechanical/chemical methods. Current projects explore life cycle analysis, smart composites, and wearable e-textiles.

Prior academic roles include:

• Education researcher at Sheffield Hallam University
• Honorary postdoctoral fellow at King’s College London
• Mathematics teacher in Ofsted Outstanding School (London), Manchester grammar school, and Dubai international school

He received a prestigious government fellowship from Bangladesh for his PhD research and combines industrial experience (3 years as textile technologist in Bangladesh) with academic expertise.
