Karen Williams

Karen Williams is a Senior Lecturer in Initial Teacher Training at the Faculty of Arts, Creative Industries, and Education (ACE) at the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol). She serves as module leader for Learners and Teachers across Secondary PGCE, Online Distance Learning PGCE, iPGCE, and BSc Maths with QTS programs, plus Primary Inclusive Practice and Guided Studies on the Foundation programme.

Her educational qualifications include:

• PGCert HE
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

and she is a fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA).

Williams' research focuses on Initial Teacher Education with expertise in Physical Education pedagogy, Metacognitive strategies, and inclusive teaching methodologies. Her work integrates Action Learning Sets for professional development and emphasizes curriculum design for diverse learners. She actively contributes to mentoring frameworks and teacher recruitment systems across regional partnerships.

Prior to UWE, she taught secondary Physical Education for 8 years and developed School Direct/PGCE programs while managing NQT initiatives and university-school networking across the Midlands and South West.
