Ricky R. Norwood

Ricky R. Norwood is an Associate Professor at the University of San Francisco (USF), serving as a Full-Time Faculty member and Program Director. He holds over 27 years of nursing experience across family practice, trauma nursing, surgical nursing, and military nursing. His roles include Co-chair of the Education Committee at the California Association for Nurse Practitioners (CANP) and Chair of the Health & Wellness Committee of the 100 Black Men of Sacramento. Dr. Norwood is also a primary care provider for over 200 patients at Grass Valley Extended Care.

Research focuses on primary care, mental health, and military medicine, emphasizing health promotion, disease prevention, and patient advocacy. He has spoken at numerous community events to inspire minorities to pursue healthcare careers. His selected publication addresses asthma management practices in military healthcare settings.

Awards include the 2017 UC Davis Dean’s Award for Community Excellence, the 2013 Lela Duffel Morris Nursing Scholarship, and the 2006 USUHS GSN Dean’s Research Award.
