Rianna Murray is Assistant Research Professor and Graduate Director for Global, Environmental, and Occupational Health at the University of Maryland School of Public Health. She manages the NSF-funded Global STEWARDS program training doctoral students in Food-Energy-Water nexus challenges.
Her research investigates environmental health risks, particularly water quality and food safety impacts on vulnerable communities. Current projects include the USDA-NIFA CONSERVE Center's work on safe reuse of nontraditional irrigation water. She employs interdisciplinary approaches to address environmental justice in water access and agricultural practices.
Dr. Murray teaches courses on the built environment and sustainability (MIEH 331), and co-leads graduate seminars in interdisciplinary research methods. She has conducted global health fieldwork in Sierra Leone, examining post-Ebola community health needs.
