Renny Thomas is a TAKI Visiting Global Professor at NYU's Gallatin School, specializing in Science & Technology Studies and Anthropology of Religion. His ethnographic fieldwork examines science-society interfaces in Indian laboratories and Unani hospitals, exploring co-production of modern knowledge systems.
Research focuses on: 1) Historical and contemporary science-religion negotiations in India; 2) Decolonial critiques of knowledge production; 3) Unani medicine's integration with modern healthcare; 4) Ethnographic methodologies for studying scientific practice. Authored 'Science and Religion in India: Beyond Disenchantment' and co-edits volumes on religion-technology interfaces.
Honored as Fellow of the International Society for Science and Religion (ISSR). Editorial roles include Associate Editor of Social Studies of Science and Contributions to Indian Sociology.
