Rebecca Hall

Rebecca Hall is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Global Development Studies at Queen’s University, affiliated with the Faculty of Arts and Science. Her research focuses on feminist political economy, examining how land, resources, and labor intersect with colonialism, gender, and race. She holds a PhD and MA from York University and a BAH from the University of British Columbia.

Her work centers on social reproduction in northern Canada, particularly with Indigenous communities, exploring resistance against extractive capitalism. Key projects include the SSHRC-funded 'Futures of Care' initiative examining community labor in post-extractive transitions. She is cross-appointed to Cultural Studies at the School of Graduate Studies.

Research interests span postcolonial systems, gender studies, and Indigenous societal studies. Recent publications include Refracted Economies (2022), analyzing diamond mining’s gendered impacts, and articles on settler colonial identity, mine closure governance, and Indigenous resistance. Her writing critiques colonial structures while amplifying grassroots decolonizing efforts.
