Rachel Wilder

Rachel Wilder is a Lecturer in the Department of Education at the University of Bath. Her research investigates the role of education in addressing global challenges such as gender equality, reproductive justice, mental health, and climate action, with a focus on policy studies and social transformation.

Her research centers on how education leaders navigate contested policy areas, emphasizing power dynamics, institutional structures, and the agency of children and young people as legitimate knowers. She conducts participatory research with schools and youth to reimagine educational futures grounded in justice and equity. Her current projects include a British Academy Innovation Fellowship on youth-led advocacy to reduce child-on-child sexual harm, alongside other initiatives on mental health in schools and climate justice education.

Her recent publications reflect a strong trend in critical education policy, environmental and reproductive justice, and ethical research practices. These works employ qualitative and participatory methodologies and contribute to global sustainable development goals, particularly in education and climate action.
