Rachel Newton is a registered architect and full-time Senior Lecturer at the Manchester School of Architecture (MSA), leading the PgCert in Architecture and Contemporary Practice (RIBA Part 3) programme. She also serves as Director of Little Architect CIC, a social enterprise focused on teaching children and young people about architecture and the built environment, and practices as an apprentice Craftivist. Her professional background spans 16 years in architectural practice and related creative disciplines such as branding, marketing, web design, and graphics.
With a PGCE in education, Rachel is committed to advancing specialist higher education (HE) pedagogical approaches, particularly through her course leadership and teaching in the feminist-oriented PRAXXIS Atelier for MArch students. Her research interests intersect architecture education, community engagement, and inclusive design practices.
Rachel’s work extends beyond academia through Little Architect CIC, which bridges architecture with social impact initiatives. She is based at the Manchester Technology Centre (Office 3.11).
