Piotr Kułakowski

Piotr Kułakowski is an Assistant Professor at the Academy of Music in Gdańsk, specializing in Jazz and Popular Music. He teaches double bass and bass guitar, combining pedagogy with an extensive career in performance and collaboration.

Education:

• Graduate of the Faculty of Jazz and Popular Music at the Academy of Music in Katowice (2004)
• Doctorate in Musical Arts in Instrumental Studies, specializing in double bass performance (2015)

Research interests include Jazz and Popular Music, Double Bass Performance, and Contemporary Jazz practices. His career spans over 1,500 concerts across Poland, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, and Italy, and participation in numerous festivals. He has recorded over 30 albums and collaborated with renowned musicians like Nigel Kennedy, Eddie Henderson, and Waldemar Górski.

Scientific Awards:

• First prize, 7th National Jazz Standards Competition in Siedlce (2003)
• Award for best band, 6th National Review of Young Jazz and Blues Bands in Gdynia (2003)
