Pierre Doumenge is a Cello Professor at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and maintains an active career as a performer and educator. His affiliations include roles as guest principal cellist with the English Chamber Orchestra, London Chamber Orchestra, and Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment. He was a member of the Dante String Quartet (2001–2005), performing across Europe and recording commercially.
His teaching career includes cello and chamber music instruction at the Yehudi Menuhin School (2003–2009) and masterclasses at institutions like the Oxford Cello School, Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris, and Szymon Goldberg Seminars in Toyama. He specializes in chamber music collaboration, working with artists such as Pascal Rogé, Lars Vogt, and the Nash Ensemble.
Pierre has performed at major festivals including Aldeburgh, Bath, and the Joy of Music Festival in Hong Kong. His recordings for labels like Dutton and Hyperion have received critical acclaim. In 2008, he served as official cellist for the Menuhin International Violin Competition, performing Ravel’s Sonata with semi-finalists.
