Paula Hayes

Paula Hayes is an Associate Professor of Teaching in the Department of English at the University of Memphis. Her pedagogy emphasizes writing process theory and Growth Mindset psychology in developmental writing instruction. Research examines modernist/post-modernist poetics, public poetry as rhetorical discourse, and American cultural consumption of poetry.

Publications include analyses of Anna Margolin's Yiddish modernism, science-poetry intersections, Diane DiPrima's ecocritical work, and Gary Soto's contributions to Chicano literature. Creative works explore themes of silence, cultural memory, and identity.
