Nynke Kramer is an Associate Professor in Toxicology at Wageningen University and Research, leading research on improving in vitro-to-in vivo extrapolation methods for chemical risk assessment. She previously served as an Assistant Professor at Utrecht University’s Institute for Risk Assessment Sciences. Her expertise spans toxicology, environmental toxicology, and alternative testing methods.
Education: BSc in Life Sciences (University College Utrecht), MSc in Environmental Change and Management (University of Oxford), and PhD in Toxicology (Utrecht University). She conducted part of her fellowship-funded research at Eawag, Switzerland.
Research focuses on toxicokinetics, environmental impacts of chemicals, and reducing reliance on animal testing. Key areas include developing PBK models, assessing chemical exposure thresholds for endangered species, and evaluating food additive safety via adverse outcome pathways.
Recipient of the SETAC Procter & Gamble Fellowship, supporting her work on environmental science research. Active in teaching MSc courses on food toxicology, environmental risk assessment, and data science in food safety.
