Nergis Canefe is Professor of Politics at York University, with cross-appointments to the Center for Refugee Studies and Osgoode Hall Law School. Her research examines forced migration, state criminality, and transitional justice through decolonial and human rights frameworks.

Professor Canefe contributes to policy discussions as an expert witness on refugee rights and develops critical methodologies for studying displacement in postcolonial contexts. Her work challenges conventional boundaries of international law and political theory.
