Julia Kienast is a postdoctoral researcher at Aarhus University, focusing on international and European human rights law with a particular emphasis on refugee law. Her research explores the intersection of crisis policies and asylum systems, including the use of 'crisis tools' in migration governance. She completed her PhD at the University of Vienna on mass migration governance in Austria and currently participates in the ASILE and TemPro projects. Her work critiques the criminalization of migrants under security narratives and examines legal frameworks governing asylum and refugee rights.
