Neil J. Gallagher is the Shirley N. & Stephen R. Towne Professor of Ship Design at Webb Institute since 1993. He holds a B.S. in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from Webb Institute and an M.S. in Naval Architecture and Ocean Systems Management from MIT. His professional experience includes roles as Chief Engineer at R.E. Derecktor of RI Shipyard and Senior Engineer at Bethlehem Steel Corporations. Gallagher teaches courses including Marine Engineering, Machine Design, and Ship Design II.
His research focuses on naval architecture, marine engineering systems, and vessel stability. Additional responsibilities include serving as Thesis Advisor, Marine Engineering Lab Chair, and Machine Shop Director.
