Her creative practice blends documentary and fictional storytelling to explore rural communities in Russia and Ukraine, focusing on how individuals cope with economic instability and the passage of time. Her work has been featured in major publications like The New York Times and The Guardian, as well as exhibitions at institutions such as the Philadelphia Museum of Art and Bellevue College.
Her books Years Like Water (2023) and Aunties (2015) examine intimate narratives through photographic essays, with themes of aging, labor, and environmental change.
