Kimberly Ruth is a Temporary Lecturer in the Department of Digital Media & Journalism at SUNY New Paltz. She holds an MFA in Studio Art from Tufts University and dual degrees from SUNY New Paltz: a BA in Journalism and a BFA in Photography. Her academic work bridges media theory and visual culture, exploring societal dependencies on imagery and narrative construction.

Ruth’s artistic practice, such as Black Boxes II, combines archival exploration with fictional storytelling, interrogating themes of identity and memory through photography and narrative.
In teaching, she emphasizes critical engagement with visual media and its socio-economic impacts. She has also served as Chief Editor and Art Director for Gnome Magazine, blending academic rigor with professional creative experience.
