Morten Lykkegaard Christensen is an Associate Professor at the Department of Chemistry and Life Sciences within the Faculty of Engineering and Science at Aalborg University. He leads the Center for Membrane Technology and the Section for Bioresources and Process Technology, with a research focus on water purification, nutrient recovery, and sustainable process engineering.
Research Interests:
- Membrane filtration (MBR, MF/UF, nanofiltration, forward osmosis)
- Flocculation and separation of wastewater, slurry, and sediment
- Mathematical modeling of filtration and dewatering
- Reduction of nutrient emissions and phosphorus recovery
- Sustainable development aligned with UN SDGs
Teaching: Experienced in Problem-Based Learning (PBL) for over 20 years, teaching Chemical Unit Operations, Colloid Chemistry, and Reactor Engineering. Supervises students across bachelor's, master's, and B.Eng. programs.
Scientific Awards:
- Årets underviser (Teacher of the Year) 2020
Projects: Currently involved in initiatives like Power-to-P (nutrient recovery), CERO-MP (micropollutant reduction), and Baltic Sea nutrient solutions, funded by EUDP, Danish Environmental Protection Agency, and Interreg Baltic Sea Region.
