Monica Cheng

Monica Cheng is an Adjunct Professor at the Faculty of Law, Thompson Rivers University (TRU), where she has served as a sessional instructor since 2019. She is a partner at Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP, specializing in income tax law, with expertise in corporate reorganizations, mergers and acquisitions, and financings. Her practice spans domestic and international tax matters across sectors such as oil and gas, renewable energy, agriculture, technology, infrastructure, and retail.

Cheng has extensive teaching experience, having co-taught Corporate Tax at McGill University and guest lectured at the University of Calgary and University of Ottawa. She previously clerked for judges of the Tax Court of Canada and frequently presents and publishes on tax-related issues. Her academic contributions complement her legal practice, focusing on bridging theoretical tax principles with practical applications in corporate transactions.
