Michael Woywode

Professor Dr. Michael Woywode is Chair Holder of SME Research and Entrepreneurship and Director of the Institute for SME Research and Entrepreneurship at the University of Mannheim. He previously held the Chair of International Management at RWTH Aachen University (2002-2007) and served as acting director at the University of Karlsruhe’s Institute for Corporate Management.

• Doctorate in economics (Mannheim, 1995)
• Habilitation in business administration (Mannheim, 2002)
• Visiting scholar at Stanford University's Graduate School of Business (1995, 1999, 2016)

His research focuses on:

• Management of corporate growth and organizational change
• Internationalization strategies of high-tech startups
• Governance mechanisms in family businesses
• Innovation processes in medium-sized enterprises
• Growth strategies in German automotive industries
• Industry life cycles and applied econometric analysis

His work has been funded by the Volkswagen Foundation, Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, and German Research Foundation (DFG). Publications appear in journals like Academy of Management Journal, Organization Studies, and International Journal of Industrial Organization.
