Michael Volz is an Associate Teaching Professor of Chinese, Coordinator of the Chinese Studies Program, and Director of the International Studies Program at the University of Missouri. With 30 years of experience in Chinese language and culture, he joined MU in 2005 and has led the development of the Chinese Studies program, establishing a minor degree and study abroad programs in China.
Education includes:

- MEd in Second Languages and Cultures, University of Minnesota
- MA in East Asian Studies, Stanford University
Research focuses on language pedagogy and cross-cultural interactions between China and the U.S. at personal and organizational levels, with emphasis on educational methodologies and cultural exchange dynamics.
Key initiatives include developing interdisciplinary China study abroad programs in collaboration with the Trulaske School of Business.
