Michael Roden is Chair (W3-Professor) of Internal Medicine, Endocrinology and Metabolic Diseases at Heinrich-Heine University Düsseldorf. He also serves as Deputy Head of the Department of Conservative Medicine, Director of the Division of Endocrinology & Diabetology at University Hospital Düsseldorf, CEO of the German Diabetes Center (DDZ), and member of the Speakers' Assembly of the German Centers of Health Research (DZD).

Research Interests: Michael Roden's work focuses on mechanisms of insulin resistance, mitochondrial dysfunction, and metabolic inflammation in diabetes and obesity. His studies investigate ectopic fat storage, noninvasive metabolic flux tracing, and precision medicine approaches for diabetes management, alongside carbohydrate, lipid, and amino acid metabolism in clinical-experimental settings.
